These sweet, flaky, and syrup-drizzled apple dumplings are simply amazing. For an authentically cosy experience, serve them with a dollop of ice cream.
– 3 cups all-purpose flour– ½ teaspoon salt– 10 tablespoon butter – 8 tablespoon shortening– 6 tablespoon ice water– 1 cup water– 2 tablespoon lemon juice– 1 cup brown sugar– 1 teaspoon cinnamon– 4 medium apples – 2 tablespoon butter – 3 tablespoon brown sugar– 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Ingredient
1
Make the crust first. Incorporate the flour, salt, butter, and shortening into the mixer bowl by mixing thoroughly.
2
Add a little water at a time until the dough comes together. Distribute the dough on your work surface into two pieces.
3
Wrap each dough piece in plastic and chill 30 minutes. Mix the syrup components in a saucepan and cook over medium-high heat.
4
After reducing the syrup by half over the course of eight to ten minutes, lower the heat to a simmer.
5
After peeling and halving the apples, remove the core. Combine the 1 tsp of cinnamon and 3 tablespoons of brown sugar in a small bowl.
6
Cut two tablespoons of butter into eight small pieces, then roll each piece in the mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
7
Put each butter piece in the apple centre. Heat the oven to 425 F. Roll one crust piece and cut it into four pieces on a floured surface.
8
They must be large enough to cover the fruit. Fold the crust over the apples and run your finger down the crust edge with water. Remove extra dough.
9
Add a ladle of brown sugar syrup to the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Pour the remaining syrup over the apple dumplings in the baking dish.
10
Bake apple dumplings for 40 minutes until golden brown. Serve the dumplings after 5 minutes of cooling.
